Camping Val de Cantobre - Cevennes
Camping Val de Cantobre is a long-time Canvas favourite, awarded '4 red tents' by Michelin. For over 27 years Canvas customers have been coming to this rather special family-owned 'Castel et Camping' site, where fresh bread and croissants are delivered to your tent daily! Set high in the hills, with views towards the cliff-top village of Cantobre, this terraced site's facilities are housed in a beautifully converted mill with local specialities being served in an oak beamed restaurant. The activity programme is extensive - canyoning and rock-climbing, abseiling and horse riding. The area is excellent for mountain biking and there are organised river treks and walks. Our Wild & Active courier is on hand to organise outdoor events for the whole family.
Camping les Ranchisses - Largentière
Camping les Ranchisses is a small, wooded site located in the south of the Ardèche region. Owned by Véronique and Phillipe Chevalier, this is a special setting on an old farm in the middle of a rich vineyard and on the edge of the gentle Ligne river. The emplacements are laid out on twelve and a half acres of peaceful land, a haven of relaxation with a splash of fun included. The pool complex, on site pond and river provide endless water fun for children, big and small. Traditional stone farm buildings are home to the charming restaurant and bar which offer an entertainment programme during high season; relax on the terrace surrounded by ancient trees. In July and August you can join in the interesting walking tours and wine tasting at the Caveau des Ranchisses.
Mondial Camping - Pont d'Arc
Mondial Camping is an excellent base for a family activity holiday, located in beautiful countryside, on the banks of a river. This is an area of rocky, rolling hillside, with deep gorges and fast running rivers. It is wonderful country for walking, mountain biking, horse riding and fishing - but most popular of all is canoeing. From the campsite riverbank you can join an organised descent. There is a one-hour mini trip, or for the more adventurous a full day trip through the Gorges of the Ardèche. For the energetic there are tennis and volleyball courts on site, together with a floodlit palm fringed pool. You can relax here on the pebbled riverside beach before heading to the friendly bar for some entertainment in high season, which includes live music and discos.
Chateau Boisson - St Ambroix
Camping Château Boisson is a quality 'Castels' site which we are delighted to introduce to our 2006 programme. Set on a hillside, and awarded a prestigious 'three red tent' rating by Michelin, the facilities on this small site are housed in the buildings and courtyard of the old chateau. There is a swimming pool with waterslide and paddling pool, plus a heated indoor pool, as well as tennis courts and a sports field for those feeling more active. The delightful restaurant is popular with both tourists and locals alike. There is an attractive terrace perfect for al fresco dining, while the site runs an entertainment programme throughout the summer, including weekly discos and painting classes for adults in low season.
Camping de Peyrelade - Tarn
Camping de Peyrelade is surrounded by craggy hills and deep gorges and is set beside the river Tarn with its own pebble beach. It's the perfect place to escape the crowds at the coast and enjoy an active holiday in a typically French atmosphere. You can swim in the clear trout streams, sunbathe on the pebble beach or take a dip in the swimming pool. Alternatively, relax in the sun with a coffee on the bar terrace. It's an excellent place to learn to canoe and, for the more experienced, there are down-river trips that finish at the campsite. A host of other pursuits are available in high season - hill walking, fossil hunts, fishing, archery and rafting, and the chance to try mountain biking across seriously rugged terrain.
