Boatyard Description: A family business for the last 15 years which has a reputation for immaculately maintained, top-quality narrowboats, with personal service from professionally qualified boating enthusiasts. Lower Heyford has been a hire base for 30 years and is beautifully situated on the original 200 year old wharf. Boats new for 2004 are all built to Oxfordshire Narrowboats in-house design, complementing our existing top quality hirefleet, all boats new in 2004 will feature: Lower Heyford is the perfect base from which you may easily explore the Cotswolds, Oxford, the Upper Thames and, of course the stunningly beautiful South Oxford Canal, in just one week. Short breaks are idyllic here along the beautiful Cherwell Valley, either down to Oxford or north towards Banbury exploring mellow stone villages and pubs, or simply relaxing amid the beautiful canalside meadows. Extended cruising of two or more weeks allows you to complete the Grand Circle of waterways including time to visit Oxford, Henley, Windsor, Hampton Court, the Waterways Museum at Stoke Bruerne, and of course enjoy cruising through both Chilterns and Cotswolds! Excellent wildlife and walking opportunities abound along and around these waterways. Oxfordshire Narrowboats offer full tuition on boat handling, lock use are always willing to provide specialist advice on navigation of the River Thames. Our picturesque, friendly, boatyard has its own rail station next door, from which there are direct trains to London, Banbury, Oxford and Reading (change here for direct services to Heathrow and Gatwick airports). If you advise us of your arrival we can even help you carry your luggage to the boats! Oxfordshire Narrowboats will call you prior to your holiday to check your arrival details A non-refundable damage waiver is charged . For all male/all female groups aboard Inglesham, the boatyard reserves the right to charge a cash security deposit of £30 per person instead of the damage waiver.
