There are beautiful, hand finished Douglas Fir beams throughout the living areas and an especially high level of natural light which floods through the first floor. Furnished and decorated in light and natural tones which successfully combine a traditional feel with contemporary fittings, the kitchen is open to the study which in turn is open to the sitting room, giving the house a wonderfully inclusive atmosphere. Jedburgh has a selection of restaurants, real ale pubs, art and craft galleries, swimming pool, the abbey founded in 1138, Mary Queen of Scots’ House and a Jail. There are activities to suit all interests and ages nearby, hill walking in the Cheviots or along St Cuthbert’s Way, fishing on the River Tweed, Teviot of Jed Water, cycling on peaceful Border roads or for the more adventurous at Glentress, 30 miles. Many golf course nearby. Visit some of the fascinating historic houses in the area; Floors Castle, Mellerstain, Abbotsford or Traquair, Scotland’s oldest and perhaps most romantic inhabited house. Edinburgh and Newcastle are each around an hour’s drive, while the sandy beaches of the east coast make for a great day away.
