Just 3&nbsp;miles from the sea at West Bay, this superb property boasts its own <strong>indoor heated swimming-pool</strong>, a garden with patio, and en-suite facilities to all bedrooms. Sympathetically converted from a former barn, it has been very well equipped to offer comfortable accommodation for up to six people. This is an ideal base for exploring both Dorset&rsquo;s lovely coastline and beautiful countryside.<br />Ancient Bridport (2&nbsp;miles) has Saxon origins and was once an important rope-making centre. The amount of space needed to make rope is said to account for the town&rsquo;s exceptionally broad streets, now the base for two popular weekly markets. There is a good choice of shops, a cinema and a new sports centre. A mile further on, West Bay has a harbour where fishing trips and rowing boat hire are available. The stunning Chesil Beach runs from here and stretches 17&nbsp;miles along the coast to Weymouth. There are several other good beaches within easy reach of The Old Piggeries &ndash; at Charmouth, Seatown and, slightly further, at the charming and popular seaside resort of Lyme Regis, which offers plenty of attractions for visitors.<br />Walkers can enjoy meandering country footpaths passing through tranquil countryside, or more energetic hikes on the coastal path along the tops of towering cliffs, where the views are breathtaking.
