Torver is a small picturesque village 3 miles south-west of Coniston in a beautiful and romantic valley, surrounded by spectacular scenery. The village is welcoming, warm and friendly and has two pubs serving good food (660 yards). The area abounds with woods, crags, streams and waterfalls, and is home to a wealth of wildlife. Coniston is a famous centre for walking, climbing and cycling, and boats may be hired on the lake, as well as trips taken on the Victorian steam yacht Gondola. Windermere, Ambleside, Hawkshead, Grasmere and Beatrix Potter&rsquo;s Sawrey are within a scenic drive. Superb visitor attractions such as the Dalton Wild Animal Park with its Sumatran tigers and Aquarium of the Lakes at Lakeside are easily accessible.
