Numerous opportunities for water sports, fishing, canoeing and bird-watching can be found at the Tamar Lakes (9 miles). This a region steeped with legends of King Arthur, Tintagel is home to the mystical ruins of a 12th-century castle, which is easily accessible. Walkers are well catered for with the coastal footpath located opposite the property, and the Bude Canal Path with its bird hide attracting all manner of wildlife. To the north of Bude, Crooklets is the location to enjoy some surfing and lifesaving demonstrations and competitions or a couple of miles farther on, Sandy Mouth holds an immaculate stretch of sand with rock pools beneath the surrounding cliffs. Within easy driving distance are the picturesque fishing villages of Boscastle, Tintagel, Port Isaac and Padstow.
