It stands within wildlife gardens and has exclusive access to 15 acres of private woodlands and river. Nominated a &lsquo;Local Wildlife Site&rsquo; in 2006, the woods are home to red squirrels, deer, owls, badgers, kingfishers, heron and abundant flora that can be seen from the cottage. There are lovely views to the Northern Lake District Fells of Blencathra, Carrock and Caldbeck and pleasant walks through the woodland, one of which takes you to High Head Sculpture Park, <frac>1/4</frac> mile, which also has a farm shop, gallery and spa. This peaceful haven is an excellent base for cycling, walking and exploring the Lake District, the Eden Valley, Hadrian&rsquo;s Wall and the Historic city of Carlisle, 9 miles.
