Primarily on a single level (but with some split-level galleried bedrooms), it has been traditionally furnished and decorated throughout to a high standard. There is also a full catering service available for special occasions. <br />Greta Bridge is a landmark hamlet, south of the A66 trans-Peninne road and only 4 miles south-east of the market town of Barnard Castle. Built on the site of a Roman settlement, and beside the pretty River Greta, is the neighbouring Morritt Arms Hotel (a 17th-century coaching inn, where Charles Dickens stayed whilst researching for his novel Nicholas Nickleby), which serves delicious food. <br />There is much to do and see in the surrounding area with Darlington a mere 18 miles distant. Within an hour&rsquo;s drive there are many racecourses including Sedgefield, Catterick, Wetherby, York and Newcastle to name but a few. Scotch Corner is 9 miles, and Teeside 30 miles.
